Initially, the bathroom basin tap had two handles; one was for cold water and the other was for hot water. If someone needs a warm shower, then he must open both handles at the same time. This has always been the standard way of use. It wasn't until 1937 that Alfred Moen, an American inventor and mechanical engineer, almost burned his hands while trying to wash his hands. This encounter prompted him to invent a single-handle basin sink taps, which made it less difficult to control the water temperature. His plan started with two valves, but in the end this plan was abandoned because it didn't work well. After a long period of time, he devoted himself to development, but it was not until the end of the Second World War that he found a producer who was willing to do it for free.

 

After World War II, Moen's antique brass basin taps began to appear, and many families began to use it one after another. At the same time, drawing on Moen's plan, other creators continued to improve the way the single basin faucet works. In order to achieve this goal, the American inventor Landis Perry designed a ball valve to control the weight of the water flowing out of the faucet.

 

Today's single hole bathroom faucet have changed in shape, size, and working methods. Another improvement of the single basin taps is automation and speed.
